The public holiday on Thursday ended up becoming a sleep and shop day (not unusual for holidays here). The destination was Kelapa Gading Mall (or KGM as it is popularly referred to by Jakarta residents). The mall has grown from just one building to three in the last ten or fifteen years; in my childhood there was just one ‘Kelapa Gading Mall’ which has now grown into KGM 1, 2 and 3 (on this last visit we saw a sign with a 5 on it but we couldn’t locate any other buildings so perhaps that is still in the planning stage … we shall see in a few months!)
